MUST Wins Hearing Heart Basketball Tournament

KABALE: Mbarara University of Science & Technology (MUST) declared 2023 Hearing Heart Basketball tournament Champions.

In a one day tournament that was held at Emmaus Bible School Arena on Saturday 11th March, located in Lower Bugongi, Kabale municipality, over 5 basketball clubs from different parts of the country parts pated in this competition and Mbarara University of Science & Technology hammered Kampala International University with 24 baskets to 13 on finals.

The event organizer, Arinaitwe Anold the founder of Hearing Heart foundation in his speech, he appreciated different teams that showed up in the tournament though they were called on short notice.

Arinaitwe said that he has no job where he earns money from and there is no Organization that backed him financially, only that he organized an event out of love as an individual and he believes that each person has the ability to execute his/her idea and make a change.

Arinaitwe vowed that he named this tournament ‘Elvis Open’ and promised to organize it  annually in honor of Prophet Elvis Mbonye who is a Ugandan senior Pastor and leader of Zoe Fellowship based in Kampala Uganda and a Senior Pastor of the Prophet Elvis Mbonye Ministries because he admires his ministry.

Mutahunga Vincent the founder for Grand basketball foundation talking with our reporter after matches vowed that they are organizing such competitions in different areas as a way of getting basketball games closer to people mostly in western Uganda where it is scarce and this may help in developing it.

He went on saying that their main purpose as Grand basketball foundation is to have travel league basketball in different districts.

Muwanguzi Keith the captain for Mbarara University of Science & Technology said that the tournament was good and it had turf competitors which impressed them to work harder.

He further advised that Kabale district should always host such events more and more because it holds players to know each other which enables them to learn more skills and bring in more sponsorships.

Other teams that participated in this tournament are; Kabale University, Kampala International University, Makerere University Business School and Emmaus Bible Basketball School.

This Hearing Heart Tournament was also equipped with volleyball competitions for both boys and girls
