KISORO: St. Mary’s College Rushoroza in Kabale District on Sunday emerged as the 2025 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) champions for the Kigezi Sub-region after defeating St. Gerald’s Secondary School Nyakibale in the boys’ football final.
The final match was held at Mutolere Secondary School playground in Kisoro District, where St. Mary’s College secured their victory, thanks to two goals scored by Juvenile Okupiirani.
To reach the finals, St. Mary’s College overcame Bishop Comboni Kambuga in a tense semifinal match. The game ended in a 1-1 draw in regular time, and St. Mary’s advanced after winning the penalty shootout.
Similarly, St. Gerald’s Secondary School edged past Kyabugashe Secondary School in the other semifinal, also decided by spot kicks after a draw at full time.
However, controversy emerged when Bishop Comboni Kambuga filed a petition alleging that St. Mary’s College had fielded overaged players during the semifinal clash.
