KABALE: The Parliamentary Public Service and Local Government committee has blamed Kabale Municipality Authorities for misleading the Ministry of Local government to allocate funding for the construction of the disputed Kabale Central market..

The construction of the Kabale Central Market, valued at Shs 23 Billion, was executed by the Chinese Chong Chuing International Construction Company, as part of the World Bank-funded Markets and Agricultural Trade Improvement Program – MATIP III.

During a meeting held at Kabale Municipal headquarters yesterday, Njeru Municipality Member of Parliament, Jimmy Lwanga, expressed disappointment over Kabale Municipality’s oversight in adhering to the agreements and Memorandum of Understanding signed with lockup owners prior to presenting the land title to the Ministry of Local Government. Lwanga emphasized that the Ministry and MATIP prioritize funding for market construction, not for resolving land disputes.
