KABALE: Police in Kabale District have discovered the decomposing body of an unidentified adult male hanging in the house of Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Austin Christmas under Construction at Kabisha Cell in Kyanamira Sub County.
According to Edward Orikiriza (48), the chairperson of LC II Kyanamira Parish, the body was found this morning at 07:00 AM.
A police report reveals that on March 5th, 2024, at around 12:00 PM, Rev. Father Austin Christmas detected a foul smell while inspecting the house. He instructed the parish catechist, Karemire Silvano, to investigate the source of the odor.
The catechist did not act on the instruction until today when a passing young boy noticed the smell and insisted on investigating further. Climbing into the ceiling, he discovered the decomposing body hanging from a rope. He promptly informed the catechist, who then contacted the LC II chairman, leading to the involvement of the police.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, reported that a suspected suicide case was registered. The OC Kyanamira informed the district CID officer, who conducted an examination of the scene and documented it.
The body was removed from the rope and transported to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.
Maate emphasized that investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of death and to identify the deceased’s relatives. Anyone missing a loved one is urged to visit the hospital mortuary to assist in the identification process and ensure a proper burial.
