KANUNGU: Police in Kanungu District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 25-year-old woman in Kihiihi Sub County.
The deceased has been identified as Domiyira Kyasimire, a housewife and resident of Rwerere village, Rusoroza parish, Kihiihi Sub County, Kanungu District. Her decomposing body was discovered hanging from a tree in Anna Bahati’s garden.
According to a police statement, Kyasimire, who was married to Ngurusi Ezra, disappeared from her home on May 12, 2024, without her husband’s knowledge. She was discovered lifeless yesterday by Anna Bahati, who found her hanging from a tree in her garden. Bahati informed the area Chairman, Asimwe Sulaiman, who then reported the incident to Kihiihi Police Station.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, stated that the scene of the crime was visited and documented. The body was lowered from the tree and taken to Kihiihi Mortuary for a postmortem examination before being handed over to relatives for a proper burial.
Maate added that the deceased’s husband is currently on the run for unknown reasons.
