KISORO: Authorities at Kisoro Hospital in Kisoro District are stuck with the body of an unidentified male adult who was killed by unknown assailants in Rubuguri Town Council.
According to a police statement, on Sunday Morning at around 7:00 AM in Kashija Cell, Kashija Ward in Rubuguri Town Council, Kisoro District, Jackson Tumwesigye discovered a body while checking on his cows. Before entering his farm gate, he saw a lifeless person lying in a trench covered with fresh leaves, with only the legs visible.
Tumwesigye alerted the area chairperson, Bakina Sipiriyano, who then informed the police.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident. He stated that a team of investigators and a canine unit visited and documented the crime scene. The body was taken to Kisoro Hospital mortuary for a postmortem.
Maate noted that the body had injuries on the neck inflicted by a sharp object. He added that the police have initiated inquiries and are currently hunting for the assailants.
He urged anyone with a missing relative to visit the hospital mortuary to identify the body for a proper burial.
