Numerous Residents and motorists have complained about the deteriorating condition of the roads, particularly the municipality roads and the Rukungiri-Ntungamo road in Rukungiri Municipality, which is dotted with gaping holes.
Led by Bahati Amon from Rwenkurijo Cell, Byamugisha Elias, the chairperson of Special Vehicles in Rukungiri Town, and Ainomugisha Jassy from Central Cell, the locals say they now spend most of their earnings on vehicle repairs. Despite their limited income, they are incurring losses because most of their earnings are spent in garages due to the poor state of the roads.

Atuheire Gerland and Akankwasa Edson, residents of Nyamayenje, along with Nyesiga Felex and Tumuhigwe Ezra from Mukarere, questioned the rationale behind paying taxes when the roads they use daily are in such a deplorable state. They explained that transporting goods and services is a challenge due to the potholes, which frequently damage their vehicles’ shock absorbers and springs, forcing them to spend more time in garages.
