RUBANDA: Rukiga Savings and Credit Cooperative Society Limited have officially opened a new branch in Rubanda Town Council, Rubanda District, to bring financial services closer to the local community.
During the opening ceremony of the Rubanda branch on Saturday, which marks the 9th branch of Rukiga SACCO, the Founder, Rev. Fr. Gaetano Batanyenda, who is also the Retired Parish Priest of Kitanga Parish, shared his motivation for starting the cooperative. He mentioned that before founding Rukiga SACCO, he encountered numerous cases of domestic violence among Christians, often linked to family financial mismanagement.
Fr. Batanyenda emphasized that transparency in family financial matters can lead to more effective budgeting, improved savings habits, and enhanced decision-making, all of which contribute to the rapid development and stability of families.

Norman Tushabe, the LC3 Chairperson of Rubanda Town Council, welcomed the new branch, highlighting that it would greatly benefit the local population, many of whom run small to medium-sized businesses. He pointed out that the new branch would provide them with easier access to loans to expand their enterprises and a secure place to save their income.

Medius Kabajurizi, the General Manager of Rukiga SACCO, expressed pride in the cooperative’s growth, with Rubanda being the 9th branch. She encouraged residents to continue opening accounts with Rukiga SACCO, as this would grant them access to loans that could help improve their entrepreneurial endeavors.
The opening ceremony concluded with a friendly football match between Rukiga SACCO staff and the staff of Murole High School Academy, located in Rubanda Town Council. The match, held at Kabirizi Playground in Rubanda Town Council, ended in a 2-2 draw.
