KASESE: The Kasese Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Florence Kabugho, has fulfilled her pledge to commission a statue of Isaya Mukirania Kibanzanga, the first king of Obusinga Bwa-Rwenzururu.
Her proposal is to place the statue at the Kasese Municipality roundabout.
According to Hon. Kabugho, she made this contribution to the Kingdom in recognition of King Isaya Mukirania’s significant role in promoting peace, unity, and stability in the Rwenzori region.
Last year, Kasese Central Division Councilor Jane Biira (FDC) introduced a private member’s motion to erect the statue at the roundabout, but the proposal faced opposition from some NRM councilors, including the Division Speaker, Hon. Medad Muramuzi.
This year, however, Hon. Muramuzi and other NRM councilors brought forward the same motion, which was subsequently approved.
The project is now awaiting the official handover to the Kingdom administration, which will oversee the erection of the statue once the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) approves the site.
