KASESE: Rt. Rev. Bishop Acquirinus Kibira of the Diocese of Kasese has pledged to hold politicians accountable for making empty promises to the church.
Bishop Kibira criticized leaders who fail to fulfill their commitments, calling it a sign of disrespect that undermines church development.
He noted that unfulfilled promises disrupt the church’s plans, as such promises are often factored into development projects.
The Bishop made these remarks on Saturday during a thanksgiving ceremony commemorating 25 years of service by Rev. Sir Malikidogo Biira. The event was held at Biira’s home in Kitsutsu village, Munkunyu sub-county, Kasese district.
Bishop Kibira expressed frustration with politicians who, after being elected during the 2021–2026 general elections, pledged to support the church but have since failed to deliver.
He described this failure as a misuse of their offices and urged the public not to trust such leaders again.
