BUSHENYI: Bushenyi District has reported a confirmed case of an anthrax outbreak, with one person dead and more cases emerging, health officials say.
According to Dr. Eliab Nuwamanya, the District Health Officer, the disease is spreading rapidly, with Kyabugimbi Sub-county identified as the most affected area.
Laboratory tests conducted at the Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) confirmed the presence of anthrax in samples taken from the area.
“So far, two patients are admitted at Kyabugimbi Health Center IV,” Dr. Nuwamanya stated.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and seek immediate medical attention if they experience any symptoms.

He revealed that efforts to contain the outbreak are currently underway.
