RUKUNGIRI: As Christians around the world marked Palm Sunday and commemorated the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, the Assistant Parish Priest of St. Augustine Catholic Parish in Bahati, Diocese of Nakuru, Kenya, Rev. Fr. John Vianney, took the opportunity to criticize government officials for neglecting the truth in their service to the people.
Delivering his homily at Kanombe Catholic Center in Nyakibale Parish, Kabale Diocese, Rukungiri District, Fr. Vianney singled out several government leaders who profess the Catholic faith but have failed to uphold Catholic values of honesty and integrity. He reminded Christians that following the path of truth, as Jesus did, often leads to persecution, as it did for Christ.
Rev. Fr. Vianney emphasized that, like Jesus, true leaders will face challenges and hardships because they stand firm in the truth.

At Christ the King Catholic Parish, Rev. Fr. Dr. Julius Turyatoranwa encouraged Christians to actively participate in the key Holy Days, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Easter so that Christ may spiritually resurrect in their hearts.
Meanwhile, Rev. Saison Gumisiriza, Parish Priest of Yakobo Orikwera Buhandagazi Church of Uganda in the Nyabiteete Archdeaconry, North Kigezi Diocese, urged Christians to use the Holy Week to cleanse their souls and renew their covenant with Jesus Christ.
He expressed concern over the dishonesty many Christians live, similar to those who initially welcomed Jesus in Bethlehem with joy, only to later turn against Him and call for His crucifixion. Rev. Saison reminded Christians that Jesus knows them by name, and that their success would come from humble submission to God.
