Police in Kabale District on Monday discovered the lifeless body of an unidentified male adult, estimated to be between 27 and 30 years old, lying in a water trench at Nyangade Cell, Mwanjari Ward, Southern Division, along the Kabale-Katuna road.
According to Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, the body was discovered at around 7:00 AM. The scene was promptly visited, processed, and documented by the District CID Officer D/SP Mukama and his team. The body was retrieved and transported to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Maate noted that the body had fresh bruises on the face and neck, indicating possible foul play. He added that investigations into the incident began immediately, and a sniffer dog was deployed, though no leads were found.
Efforts to identify the deceased are still ongoing. Maate urged anyone with a missing relative to visit the hospital mortuary to help identify the body so that the deceased may be accorded a decent burial.
