A 30-year-old man from Itiba village, Bunga Parish in Paloga sub-county, Lamwo district, was found dead at his home on Monday, April 21, 2025, shortly after being involved in a fight at a local drinking joint.
According to the Aswa East Regional Police spokesperson, IP Joe Oloya, the deceased, identified as Ongala Robert, had left his home earlier that day to join community members gathered at the residence of Odida Denis for Easter celebrations.
While at the gathering, Ongala Robert reportedly joined his colleagues; Oringa Denis, Obedi Ben, and Onen Robert. It is alleged that a quarrel broke out between him and Odida Ben, which escalated into a serious physical altercation.
IP Oloya stated that during the fight, Odida allegedly kicked Ongala, who was later rescued by other members of the community. He was taken back to his home, where he was later found dead.
Police have registered a case of suspected murder by assault at Ploga Police Station. The crime scene was examined and documented, and statements have been recorded from relevant witnesses.
Three suspects have been arrested to assist with the ongoing investigation. The body of the deceased has been taken to Padibe Health Centre IV for a postmortem examination.
