The Minister of Finance (General Duties), Henry Musasizi, has urged newly elected National Resistance Movement (NRM) LC1 Chairperson flag bearers in Rubanda District to intensify their efforts in mobilizing support for the party and President Yoweri Museveni ahead of the upcoming elections.
“Whatever happened during the elections is simply part of the normal political process,” said Minister Musasizi while addressing residents of Rugoma Village, Bwayu Parish, Nyamweru Sub-county, in Rubanda East Constituency.
He called on NRM supporters to remain united and focused on the party’s broader mission.
“Let’s keep our eyes on the bigger goal delivering even more votes for the NRM and President Museveni than we did in the last election,” he emphasized.
Minister Musasizi also extended words of encouragement to those who were unsuccessful in the recent polls, urging them to put aside their political differences and work hand-in-hand with the elected leaders for the development of their communities.
“I am once again standing for the position of NRM Chairperson for Rubanda District, and by the grace of God, I believe victory is within reach,” he declared. “Those who have been elected will work with me, and together, we will serve all citizens equally and without discrimination.”
Meanwhile, Rubanda District LC5 Chairman Stephen Ampeire Kasyaba also addressed the gathering, calling on the newly elected LC1 Chairpersons to play a key role in reconciling communities that had been divided by the election process.
“One of your duties as village chairpersons is to ensure your people are united and working together for the development of the area,” Kasyaba said.
He further pledged that the District Local Government would soon begin rehabilitation of roads that had been damaged during the rainy season.
“Do not worry. As soon as the rains stop, we are coming to work on those roads,” he assured residents.
Chairman Kasyaba also expressed appreciation to Minister Musasizi for lobbying funds that led to the construction of the Habikyenzi–Kakyenaga–Nyamweru road, and the extension project linking Kyokyezo to Butanbi.
“I was recently impressed when I visited Mparo in Rukiga District and met boda boda cyclists from Kyokyezo. They told me they had used the newly constructed road,” Kasyaba remarked.
