The Member of Parliament for Kabale Municipality, Dr. Nicholas Thaddeus Kamara, has cautioned residents against politicizing service delivery initiatives aimed at improving community welfare.
Dr. Kamara’s remarks follow public criticism on social media regarding the recent procurement and donation of a fully equipped modern ambulance to Kabale Municipality, part of his ongoing “Safe Motherhood Cycle” campaign. Some users alleged that the move was politically motivated and linked to future election campaigns.

Speaking to the media in Kabale Town today, Dr. Kamara dismissed the allegations, stating that the ambulance procurement was not politically driven but rather aligned with his broader agenda to improve healthcare access in the region.
“This ambulance is intended for free use by pregnant women and will supplement the existing ambulance services in Kabale District,” he said. “Expectant mothers will not pay a single coin, at least for now. Patients referred to Mbarara or Kampala will only be required to cover fuel costs.”
Dr. Kamara also revealed that the ambulance has been registered under the Uganda Emergency and Ambulance Services and is licensed by the Ministry of Health. He further noted that the Ministry has requested him to nominate a nurse for training to operate the ambulance effectively.

He added that he is currently lobbying the Ministry of Health to allocate another ambulance to Kamukira Health Centre IV in Kabale Municipality. Dr. Kamara encouraged pregnant women in the area to take full advantage of the available maternal health services to ensure safe deliveries.
