Uganda’s flagship tourism event, the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE) 2025, has officially commenced at the Speke Resort and Convention Centre in Munyonyo.

Under the theme “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation,” this year’s expo highlights Uganda’s commitment to eco-conscious development and positions tourism as a key driver of economic growth.

The grand opening ceremony featured a vibrant cultural performance titled “Sounds of the Pearl,” which blended music, dance, and storytelling in celebration of Uganda’s rich heritage. This marked the beginning of a four-day showcase of Uganda’s diverse tourism offerings, drawing over 300 exhibitors from across Africa and around the world.

POATE, held annually, promotes Uganda as a premier destination for tourism investment, partnerships, and cultural exchange. It serves as a platform that brings together tourism operators, travel agents, hospitality stakeholders, and investors to strengthen Uganda’s global tourism brand as “The Pearl of Africa.”

The President also commended the efforts of East African Community exhibitors, tour operators, media, and international delegates for their role in developing the tourism industry.
