Police in Kabale District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an unidentified woman whose body was discovered floating in River Rwabakazi at Kabatogote Cell, Kyanamira Parish, Kyanamira Sub-county.
According to police reports, on Friday at around 5:30 PM, AIP Turyahisyahe Cresensio, the Officer in Charge of Kyanamira Police Station, received information from a resident identified as Bonanza about a body seen floating in the river.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, confirmed that upon receiving the report, a case of suspected murder was registered at Kyanamira Police Station.
The Kabale homicide team, led by D/IP Barijunaki Samuel, visited the scene, conducted a thorough examination, and documented their findings.
Maate further stated that relevant witness statements were recorded, and the body was transported to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.
He appealed to the public to come forward if anyone is missing a female relative and to visit the hospital mortuary to help identify the deceased for a dignified burial.
He also urged anyone with information regarding the circumstances of the woman’s death to report to the police to aid in bringing those responsible to justice.
