Edmund Atusasire on Wednesday officially picked up expression of interest forms from the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission offices in Kampala, signaling his firm intention to challenge incumbent Rukiga District LC5 Chairman, Robert Mbabazi Kakwerere.

Widely known as “Researcher,” Atusasire’s entry into the race has sparked renewed enthusiasm among voters, many of whom now refer to him as a “Game Changer.”

This nickname reflects the growing support for his grassroots campaign and forward-looking vision for the district.

Since declaring his candidacy, Atusasire has taken a proactive, community-oriented approach meeting with constituents at the grassroots level, presenting his manifesto, and raising awareness about the NRM’s electoral roadmap. His campaign is firmly rooted in the core values of the NRM: Patriotism, Pan-Africanism, Socio-economic Transformation, and Democracy.

Atusasire’s campaign is centered on enhancing service delivery, promoting inclusive development, empowering youth and women, and ensuring transparency and accountability in district leadership.

His mission is to align local governance with the broader NRM development agenda while cultivating unity, integrity, and responsive leadership.

“I am not just standing as a candidate,” he affirmed, “but as a son of Rukiga, dedicated to listening, learning, and leading with integrity. Change starts with belief, and belief starts with us. Together, we can build a legacy of progress and inclusive leadership.”
