The Kabale Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Godfrey Nyakahuma, has ordered investigations into five construction companies over allegations of substandard work on various government projects in the district.

Speaking during the State of the District Address on Friday, RDC Nyakahuma directed the District Police Commander (DPC) to open a general inquiry file to assess the credibility and performance of the companies contracted to undertake multiple public projects in the area.

Nyakahuma further instructed the DPC to collaborate with the Crime Intelligence Officer to profile the directors of the implicated companies. The firms under scrutiny include Treijing Engineering Services, Anbwyc Contractors and Suppliers Limited, JIT Projects Limited, Ambix Plumbers and Engineers Limited, and Redstone Holding Limited.

He ordered that the directors of these companies report to Kabale Central Police Station immediately and record statements regarding their involvement in the alleged irregularities.

Nyakahuma particularly cited the abandoned construction of a ventilated pit latrine at Nyamiryango Primary School. He said the contract was awarded to an incompetent contractor who abandoned the site midway, leaving pupils stranded without sanitation facilities. He added that funds for the project remain unused and idle in the account.

Nyakahuma condemned the poor workmanship, noting that such negligence undermines the implementation of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) manifesto, which prioritizes service delivery to all Ugandans. He emphasized that all elected leaders who subscribe to the NRM have a duty to uphold the integrity and efficiency of government programs.
