The Kisoro District National Resistance Movement (NRM) Registrar, Tadeo Mujambere, has officially declared Kisoro Municipality Mayor Richard Ndyana as the NRM flag bearer for the Kisoro District LC5 Chairperson position ahead of the 2026 general elections.
According to the results, Ndyana secured 45,343 votes, accounting for 64.6% of the total vote, while his opponent, Bazanye Milton Mutabazi, garnered 24,796 votes (35.4%).
While addressing the media shortly after his declaration, Ndyana pledged to prioritize infrastructure development across the district should he win the general elections.

The NRM flag for the position had previously been held by incumbent LC5 Chairman Abel Bizimana, who chose to contest for the Bufumbira East County parliamentary seat but was unsuccessful.
