Police in Kisoro District are investigating a fatal road accident that claimed one life and left two others critically injured along the Kisoro–Kabale highway.
The accident occurred on Friday, August 15, 2025, at around 7:40 p.m. at Busamba, involving a Fuso Fighter truck, registration number UBH 156Q (white), and a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, registration number UEG 370X (red).
The deceased has been identified as Niyonzima Peter, 38, a resident of Rwabara village in Chahafi Town Council, Kisoro District.
The injured victims are Niyonsaba Marita, a 56-year-old female, and a male juvenile whose identity has not yet been established.
Both were passengers on the motorcycle and are currently receiving treatment at Mutolere Hospital.
According to police, preliminary findings indicate that the motorcycle was overtaking the Fuso truck when another vehicle appeared from the opposite direction.
In an attempt to return to his lane, the rider was knocked by the very truck he was overtaking, leading to his instant death.
Police visited and documented the scene before transferring the body to Kisoro Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
The wreckage has been towed to Kisoro Central Police Station pending inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles (IOV).
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, confirmed the incident, adding that investigations are underway.
