The Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Uganda, the Most Rev Dr Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, has commended the Diocese of Kigezi for upholding the tradition of the Kabale Convention, describing it as a vital moment for renewal, unity, and reflection within the Church of Uganda.

Speaking during the ongoing convention, Archbishop Kaziimba said the gathering is part of a wider movement of revival taking place across the Church of Uganda.

He pointed to several major events already held this year, including the All-Female Clergy Convention at Kyebambe Girls’ School in Fort Portal, the Uganda Martyrs Day commemoration at the Anglican Site in Namugongo on 3rd June, and the recently concluded All Clergy Convention at Uganda Christian University, Mukono, which brought together more than 1,500 clergy from all 39 dioceses.

Archbishop Kaziimba also revealed that later this year, the Church will host the Provincial Prayer Convention in Namugongo, the Provincial Annual Youth and Students Convention (PAYSCO) at Bishop Stuart University in Ankole Diocese, and the Church of Uganda Heads of Education Institutions Association (COUHEIA) conference at Uganda Christian University.

“These gatherings are not just events, they are vital moments for unity, spiritual reflection, renewal, and planning as we build the future of the Church of Uganda together,” Kaziimba said.

He emphasized that every effort done in love and obedience to God carries eternal value.

“As we reflect on our revival heritage, may we also commit ourselves to practical goodness in our daily lives, for in due season, the fruit of our labour will glorify God and bless many,” he said.

He concluded with a prayer for the convention, asking God to pour out His Spirit afresh, renew the hearts of believers, and send them out for His service.
