The People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) Party has inaugurated members of the Federal State Assembly for the Kigezi Sub-region, marking what leaders described as the beginning of broader party activities ahead of the 2026 general elections.
The Assembly is headed by former Rujumbura County MP Fred Turyamuhweza, who assumes the role of governor. Members were sworn in by Counsel Ben Duncan Sande, the chairman for Legal and Human rights, also a commissioner for oaths in Uganda, during the official opening of the PFF regional office in Kabale Municipality.
Kabale Municipality MP and PFF Vice President for Western Uganda, Dr. Nicholas Kamara, said the party is rolling out Federal Assembly nationwide as part of its push for a federal system of governance.
Kamara admitted that the party’s registration process had been delayed by what he described as intimidation and blackmail but stressed that the PFF is ready to fully participate in the 2026 elections.
He accused security officials of frustrating the event, noting that Kabale Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Maj. Godfrey Katamba had warned against mobilizing supporters.
Kamara questioned why similar restrictions were not enforced during the ruling NRM Party primaries.
“Despite the hurdles, we shall use the available space to spread our message and advocate for federalism as an alternative system of governance in Uganda,” Kamara said.
