A 29-year-old man from Rubanda District was on Thursday morning found dead in his rented room in Kisoro Municipality, sparking police investigations.
The deceased, identified as Methodius Byamugisha, a resident of Mubwindi, Rubanda District, was discovered in his house in Nyamirima Village, Nyamagana Ward, Central Division.
Friends who had been waiting for him at his workplace, where he worked as a motorcycle mechanic, said they became suspicious after he failed to turn up. They proceeded to his residence where they found him dead.
The matter was immediately reported to the landlord and neighbors, who in turn alerted police.
Kisoro Police officers responded to the scene and later transferred the body to Kisoro Hospital mortuary for a postmortem to establish the cause of death.
While the exact cause remains unknown, some residents speculated that he might have consumed excessive alcohol.
The death comes just days after another case in which a 32-year-old Rwandan national, Promise Irankunda, was also found dead in a rental room in Kisoro under unclear circumstances.
By press time, Police had not issued a statement regarding the matter.
