Police in Rubanda District have launched investigations into the suspected murder of a casual labourer, Edson Orikiriza, also known as Ntuguta.
Orikiriza, a resident of Hamurambi Cell, Kagarama Parish in Hamuhambo Town Council, was allegedly killed in the early hours of Sunday, August 24, 2025.
His body was discovered at around 7:00 a.m. in Hamurambi Cell, Kagarama, with deep head injuries believed to have been inflicted by unknown assailants.
According to police, the incident is suspected to have occurred at around 4:30 a.m. The area chairperson, Benon Turyahebwa, was alerted and promptly reported the matter to Lake Bunyonyi Police Station.
Officers from Rubanda Central Police Station visited the crime scene, which was processed and documented.
A postmortem examination conducted at the site by a police surgeon confirmed severe head cuts as the cause of death.
ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, said inquiries into the matter are ongoing.
