The first project, worth USD 13.7 million (approximately UGX 50 billion), will upgrade Katakwi General Hospital to improve access to quality healthcare for Katakwi and neighboring districts. The facility is expected to serve more than 500,000 people.

Minister Kasaija described the deal as a milestone in the growing friendship and solidarity between Uganda and Algeria.

“This project will significantly transform healthcare delivery for Katakwi and the neighboring districts, benefiting not only today’s generation but also generations to come,” Kasaija said.
