The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has officially released the timetables for the 2025 national examinations, including the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE).
According to UNEB, the examinations are designed to assess candidates’ levels of achievement and guide them in their future career paths. The Board has advised candidates to approach the exams with confidence and without panic.
The first session for UCE candidates will begin on October 10, 2025, with the briefing of candidates, followed by Geography and Biology papers on October 13, 2025.
PLE candidates will begin their exams on October 31, 2025, with the national briefing of candidates by head teachers, while UACE candidates will be briefed on November 7, 2025, before starting their papers on November 10, 2025.
UNEB has emphasized strict adherence to exam regulations, noting that morning sessions will start at 9:00 a.m. and afternoon sessions at 2:00 p.m. Candidates with special needs will be granted an extra 45 minutes per paper.
Executive Director Dan Nokrach Odongo cautioned against examination malpractice, stressing that any candidate found guilty of cheating risks disqualification, cancellation of results, or even arrest. He warned that malpractice in one paper would lead to the cancellation of the entire examination.
Cases of malpractice highlighted include smuggling unauthorized materials into exam rooms, impersonation, collusion, tearing answer scripts, possession of mobile phones, and external assistance from teachers or invigilators.
“Candidates and all concerned must remember that UNEB will not tolerate any form of dishonesty. Those involved will face stern disciplinary measures,” Odongo said.
Schools have been directed to submit continuous assessment marks through the UNEB online portal by September 30, 2025, as physical delivery will not be accepted. Learners without continuous assessment scores will not be graded.
