Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abas Byakagaba has called on police officers to embrace teamwork as the force prepares to secure the 2026 general elections.
Byakagaba made the remarks on Friday during a meeting with Electoral Zonal Commanders, Regional Police Commanders, Field Force Unit (FFU) Sector and Zonal Commanders, and Counter Terrorism Commanders at Police Headquarters in Naguru.
The meeting focused on the security master plan for the electoral period, which was presented by the Director of Operations, AIGP Frank Mwesigwa. The plan outlines strategies to ensure law and order throughout the polls.
As part of the proceedings, the IGP handed over a symbolic flag to ACP Saiga Ibrahim, the dean of Regional Police Commanders, representing the trust and responsibility placed in commanders to lead with honor and integrity.
Byakagaba urged officers to demonstrate professionalism, courage, and selflessness in their duties, saying their leadership should inspire field personnel and uphold the image of the Uganda Police Force.
