The Ministry of Works and Transport (MoWT) has announced a temporary closure of a section of the Mbarara–Ishaka Road to allow for urgent maintenance works.

According to a statement from the ministry, the affected section stretches from Kilometer 3+500 at Ruharo to Kilometer 3+900, near the Buffalo Restaurant roundabout.

The closure will take place on Friday, 7th November 2025, starting from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. (midnight).

The works will focus on the area around Woodland Gardens (Km 3+700), where emergency maintenance is required to ensure road safety and improve travel conditions for motorists.

During this period, drivers of heavy trucks and buses are advised to use alternative routes via the Mbarara By-pass (at Coca-Cola and Ruti roundabouts), while light vehicles are encouraged to use the Ntuure–Kyanungurani Road to reconnect to the Mbarara–Ishaka Highway and vice versa.
