Security has been heightened across the Kigezi Sub region ahead of the arrival of National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, for his regional campaign trail.

According to Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson Elly Maate, joint security forces comprising the Uganda Police Force, Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), and Counter-Terrorism units have been deployed to maintain law and order and prevent any form of election-related violence.

Maate cautioned Kyagulanyi’s campaign team and supporters to strictly follow the officially approved campaign schedule and adhere to all security guidelines.

He warned against acts of provocation or confrontation with security officers, emphasizing that such behavior will not be tolerated.

He further assured residents of Kigezi that the security agencies are fully prepared to ensure a peaceful and orderly campaign period that respects the rights and safety of all citizens.
