Security agencies in the Kigezi region have issued a stern warning against any form of examination malpractice as the 2025 Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations officially begin today (Monday).
Speaking to journalists on Monday morning at Kabale Central Police Station during the distribution of examination materials, the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, cautioned students, teachers, and school administrators against engaging in malpractice, warning that offenders will be arrested and prosecuted immediately.
Maate revealed that security personnel are on high alert across all examination centers in the region to ensure a smooth and fair process.
He further warned that any school administrators or teachers found aiding candidates to cheat will face severe legal consequences.

According to the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), a total of 166,402 candidates are sitting for the 2025 UACE exams, a 14.6% increase from last year’s 141,996 candidates.
The examinations start today with papers including P210/5 Theory of Government and Constitutional Development, P210/6 History of Africa (1855–1914), and P510/1 Physics Paper 1 in the morning session.
In the afternoon, candidates will tackle P310/1 Literature in English (Prose & Poetry), P320/1 Fasihi ya Kiswahili, and P510/2 Physics Paper 2.
This year’s UACE examinations were preceded by a mandatory candidate briefing held on November 7, 2025.
