The Joint Security Task Team investigating the murder of Tumwebaze Pamela, Director of Students Affairs at Uganda Christian University (UCU), has arrested a key suspect in connection with the crime.
Rachael Kawala, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, confirmed that the suspect, Taewaiko Dak Hussein, was arrested on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at his hideout in Budaka District.
Kawala said the suspect was found in possession of the deceased’s property, which investigators believe is a critical piece of evidence linking him to the murder. Preliminary findings further indicate that he is a former house help of the deceased.
“Investigations into the matter are ongoing, and further updates will be communicated in due course as progress is made,” Kawala said.
Tumwebaze, 46, a resident of Guafu West Village, Seeta Ward in Goma Division, Mukono District, was found dead at her home in the early hours of February 11, 2026.
According to preliminary police reports, at about 2:00 a.m., the housemaid reportedly noticed an unknown man inside the deceased’s bedroom dressed in her clothes.
The suspect is said to have fled the scene carrying a laptop bag belonging to Tumwebaze.
The maid, together with the children, later checked on Tumwebaze and found her unresponsive in bed.
She was rushed to Namirembe Church of Uganda Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
