The Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna, has cautioned Christians in Rukiga District against engaging in activities that could tarnish the reputation of the newly inaugurated St. Peter’s Kitanga Church of Uganda Parish.
Presiding over the inauguration ceremony in Kitanga Parish, Kashambya Sub- County, Rukiga District on Sunday, Bishop Akanjuna emphasized that the church dedication service symbolized the setting a part of the building exclusively for worship and activities that advance God’s work.
During the ceremony, Bishop Akanjuna unveiled the dedication stone, officially confirming the church’s new name as St. Peter’s Kitanga Church of Uganda Parish. He later dedicated the church to God through a lengthy prayer service.
Rukiga Member of Parliament-elect Patrick Kiconco Katabazi, along with Canon Henry Turyagyenda and Enid Turyabagyenzi, who were appointed as godparents/guardians, received dedication certificates on behalf of the Christians of St. Peter’s Kitanga Church of Uganda Parish.
Bishop Akanjuna also confirmed 80 confirmants into the Anglican faith and urged them to maintain consistent Bible-reading habits, warning that neglecting spiritual discipline could lead them back to unchristian practices.
