Police in the Kampala Metropolitan Area have arrested two suspects who were found armed with a panga near the Total petrol station in Kabuusu on the night of February 26, 2026, following a timely alert from a private security officer.
According to police, at around 9:00pm, a vehicle, registration number UBG 514R, approached the petrol station, turned back, and returned about ten minutes later, dropping off two men opposite the same station.
The Operations Manager of Folalicon Security Company noticed the two men behaving suspiciously and carrying a panga.
He quickly reported the matter to police officers on beat duty at the Kabuusu traffic lights, who then alerted personnel on motorcycle patrol.
The officers responded immediately, intercepted the suspects and, upon searching them, recovered the panga.
Rusoke Kituuma, the Uganda Police spokesperson, said the suspects are currently in detention as investigations continue to establish their intentions, possible links to other criminal activities, and any additional accomplices.
He commended the vigilance of the security guard and the swift coordination with the patrol team.
He also urged members of the public, businesses, and private security providers to promptly report any suspicious activity to the nearest police deployment to help prevent crime.
