Police in the Albertine region have arrested two prime suspects in connection with the murder of a 38-year-old woman in Kakumiro District.
The suspects, identified as Jordan Kibuka (25) and Semata, also known as Kidewalime (23), were apprehended following investigations into the death of Namulindwa Victoria, a resident of Rwensera B Cell in Kakumiro District.
According to police, the incident occurred on February 27, 2026, when the suspects allegedly attacked Namulindwa at her home while armed with heavy sticks. During the assault, three of her children and their maid were also seriously injured.
All the victims were rushed to Mubende Regional Referral Hospital for treatment. However, Namulindwa later succumbed to the injuries she sustained during the attack.
The other victims are currently receiving medical care and are reported to be in stable condition and expected to recover.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects had allegedly been targeting homes in Kakumiro District, using heavy sticks as their weapon of choice while carrying out robberies.
Police believe the attack was premeditated and suspect the two could be linked to other similar criminal incidents in the area.
Investigations are ongoing to establish the full extent of their alleged criminal activities and to ensure the continued safety of residents in Kakumiro District.
The Albertine Regional Police spokesperson, Julius Allan Hakiza, urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest police station.
“Community cooperation remains vital in the fight against crime,” Hakiza said.
He added that the safety and security of communities remain a top priority for the police, noting that authorities are committed to ensuring all perpetrators are brought to justice.
