Muslims in Kabale district have strongly condemned extortion and the selling of jobs by the District Service Commission, warning that many job seekers are being exploited before securing employment.
The remarks were made on Friday by the Kabale District Khadi, Sheikh Kabu Lule, during the Eid al-Fitr celebrations at Masjid Kirigime Mosque.
Sheikh Lule said that applicants are often asked to pay bribes, despite the limited number of available jobs, leaving many cheated and forced to sell their meager assets to secure employment.
He urged relevant authorities to intervene promptly, eliminate this malpractice, and ensure that qualified candidates are fairly employed.
Sheikh Lule also spoke against the ongoing conflict between Iran, the USA, and Israel, calling for reconciliation among states to prevent the killing of innocent civilians.
He encouraged Muslims to unite and support their faith, emphasizing that Islam permits defending the religion when under attack.
