Ugandan troops serving under the United Nations Guard Unit 12 (UNGU XII) have successfully completed a comprehensive induction and security training in Mogadishu, boosting their readiness for mission duties in Somalia.

The training, supported by the United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS), equipped the soldiers with critical skills in access control procedures, cultural awareness, improvised explosive device (IED) awareness, camp security, and understanding the United Nations mandate.

These modules are essential in preparing personnel to operate effectively in the complex mission environment.

The Commanding Officer of UNGU XII, Lieutenant Colonel Nathan Akankunda, underscored the importance of the training, urging troops to apply the knowledge gained in real operational settings.

“I urge you to take such courses seriously and put into practice the knowledge and skills attained in the operational environment,” he said.
