The Pastoral Coordinator for Kabale Diocese, Rev. Fr. Fidelis Ndagijimana has asked Christians to demonstrate true love for Jesus Christ through active obedience to His commandments, reminding believers that genuine faith is shown through actions and not words alone.
Rev. Fr. Ndagijimana made the call in his homily during the Second Mass at Christ the King Catholic Parish Church in Kabale Municipality on Sunday while reflecting on the teachings of Jesus about love, obedience and the promise of the Holy Spirit, encouraging Christians to remain steadfast in faith and embrace God’s guidance in their daily lives.
He explained that true love for Jesus is verified by keeping His commandments, noting that Christianity is not merely based on emotions but on living according to God’s will through acts of kindness, honesty and compassion.
The priest further reminded Christians of Jesus’ promise to send the Holy Spirit, described as the Advocate and divine counselor, who remain with believers forever to provide guidance, comfort and strength.
Rev. Fr. Ndagijimana emphasized that Jesus assured His followers that they would not be left as orphans, but would continue experiencing His presence through the Holy Spirit dwelling within them.
He also noted that while the world may fail to recognize the Spirit because it does not know Him, believers who love Jesus are able to receive the inward revelation of truth through faith and obedience.
According to Rev. Fr. Ndagijimana, those who love Jesus and keep His commandments are loved by God the Father, and through this relationship, Jesus reveals Himself to them in a deeper spiritual way.
He urged Christians to remain prayerful, united and committed to living according to the teachings of Christ so as to strengthen their relationship with God and inspire others through their faith.
