The Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna, has confirmed 59 confirmants into the Anglican faith during a service held at Nyamweru Church of Uganda Parish in Nyamweru Sub-county, Rubanda District.
While preaching during the service on Sunday, Bishop Akanjuna encouraged students to pursue technical and vocational courses such as knitting, plumbing, and carpentry to help combat unemployment. He noted that many parents still push their children toward white-collar careers despite the scarcity of such jobs.
Bishop Akanjuna also condemned social vices such as alcoholism, prostitution, and excessive indulgence in luxury, which he said contribute to the rising levels of poverty in families. He further urged Christians to avoid selling their property without proper plans, warning that such actions often lead to financial ruin.

Meanwhile, Rubanda East Member of Parliament hopeful, Jogo Kenneth Biryabarema, criticized the Rubanda District leadership for neglecting road works along the Bugongi–Bigungiro–Kakyenaga–Hakashenyi–Kyokyezi–Butambi road, which he described as being in a sorry state.
Biryabarema expressed concern that although the road was included under the District Connectivity Program, it remains overgrown with bush, riddled with potholes, and extremely dusty, posing a serious risk to road users.
