The Ministry of Health has confirmed two new cases of Ebola Virus Disease in Kampala, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in Uganda to nine, including one death.
In a statement issued on Friday, Dr. Charles Olaro, the Director General of Health Services at the Ministry of Health, said the newly confirmed patients are Congolese nationals.
According to Dr. Olaro, the first patient sought medical attention after presenting symptoms consistent with Ebola Virus Disease.
“Our rapid response teams acted swiftly to isolate the patient as soon as symptoms were identified. All contacts of this newly confirmed case have been traced and are under close monitoring,” he said.
He added that the second confirmed patient is a known contact of a previously confirmed Ebola case and is already under medical care.
The Ministry of Health has urged the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspected Ebola symptoms to health authorities as efforts to contain the outbreak continue.
