The Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Kabale District, Michael Muramira Kyakashari, has ordered the immediate arrest of two law enforcement officers attached to Kabale Central Division in Kabale Municipality after they were allegedly caught soliciting a bribe from a local businessman despite him having settled his outstanding tax arrears.

The suspects, identified as Edmond Kato and Mike Arinda, were arrested on Friday during a sting operation conducted at the businessman’s premises in the Eso area of Kabale Municipality.

The complainant, Nelson Kahamire, proprietor of Mudero Hardware, said the ordeal began at around 1:00 p.m. when the officers approached him over an alleged tax liability amounting to UGX 202,500.

Kahamire explained that he immediately went to the bank and cleared the dues. However, upon returning, he reportedly found his hardware shop locked by the officers.
