Residents in Kisoro District are living in fear following the fatal shooting of a businessman and his wife by unknown assailants as they returned home from work.

The deceased, identified as Ntenziyaremye Africano and his wife, Kyompeire Peace, were reportedly shot at around 11pm on Saturday in Zindiro Cell, Kamonyi Ward, Kisoro Municipality.

The couple was returning from their wholesale shop in Kisoro Municipality when they were attacked by assailants armed with a firearm.

The incident has raised concerns among residents, who are calling on security agencies to intensify investigations and establish the motive behind the killings.

Some residents have expressed concern over the security situation in the border district, attributing the challenges partly to the movement of people from different backgrounds across the borders.
