The chairperson of Parliament’s Education Committee and Kibale County MP, Eng. Cuthbert Mirembe Abigaba, says construction of two seed secondary schools in his constituency is progressing despite earlier delays.
Speaking to our reporter on Monday, Abigaba expressed optimism that Busiriba Seed Secondary School in Busiriba Sub-county and Kabambiro Seed Secondary School would be completed soon.
His remarks followed a visit to Busiriba Seed Secondary School on Saturday, where construction of classroom blocks had reached the roofing stage.
The two schools are being constructed under the Uganda Secondary School Education Expansion Project (USEEP), which also supports expansion works at Kyabenda Secondary School, Kamwenge College, Mpanga Parents Secondary School and Bigodi Secondary School.
Abigaba said the government would consider deploying teachers and other staff to the schools once construction is completed to improve access to quality secondary education in the constituency.
He also urged parents to support their children’s education by providing essential scholastic materials and food, saying such support was important for learners’ academic progress.
USEEP is a World Bank-funded project implemented by the Ministry of Education and Sports to expand access to secondary education and improve learning facilities across Uganda.
