Catholic media practitioners have been urged to collaborate, apply newly acquired digital skills and strengthen revenue generation while advancing the Church’s evangelisation mission.
Emeritus Bishop Giuseppe Franzelli, chairman of the Uganda Episcopal Conference Social Communications Commission, made the call at the close of a four-day workshop held at Ulrika Guest House in Kisubi, Entebbe.
The workshop brought together participants from 25 Catholic media institutions to explore digital marketing, commercial communication and effective evangelisation in the changing media landscape.
Bishop Franzelli urged the practitioners to use the knowledge acquired to improve the sustainability of Catholic media institutions while ensuring that their work remains aligned with the Church’s teachings and mission.
The National Executive Secretary of the commission, Fr Philip Odii, also encouraged participants to share the knowledge and skills gained during the training with their colleagues to strengthen the capacity of Catholic media institutions.
The training, conducted by Kearlmark Consults Ltd, highlighted practical approaches to revenue generation in Catholic media houses while safeguarding Church doctrine and promoting responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) in evangelisation.
The workshop aimed to equip Catholic media practitioners with skills to adapt to emerging digital trends, improve their commercial operations and use modern communication tools to spread the Gospel.
