The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has promoted Brig Oscar Munanura to the rank of Acting Major General and appointed him Chief of Defence Intelligence and Security (CDIS) of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).
Munanura, who previously served as Deputy Chief of Defence Intelligence and Security, replaces Maj Gen Richard Otto, who has been seconded to the Joint Staff Human Resource Management for redeployment.
The changes were announced in a press statement issued by Col Chris Magezi, the Acting Director of Defence Public Information at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs, on Tuesday.
The UPDF congratulated Munanura on his promotion and appointment, while commending Otto for his service during his tenure as head of defence intelligence and security.
The army also wished both officers success as they take up their new responsibilities.
Munanura’s appointment places him at the helm of the UPDF department responsible for defence intelligence and security.
