RUBANDA – Police in Rubanda District are currently investigating the mysterious death of 23-year-old Hope Tumuramye, a Mutwa residing in Rwamahano village, Ikamiro parish, Muko sub-county, Rubanda District.
Her lifeless body was discovered in a trench at Nfansha trading centre on 02/10/2023 around 5:00 PM.
Reportedly, on 01/10/2023, at approximately 4:00 PM, the deceased left home to purchase food at Nfansha trading center in the company of her friends Kahara, Gloria, and others.
Despite waiting in vain at home, it wasn’t until the next day, 02/10/2023 at 5:00 PM, that the family received a distressing call from the area chairperson, Silevesti Ngurusi of Habuhinga village.
The call reported an unidentified body dumped in Nfasha river near Nfansha trading center, which the mother later identified as her daughter.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, confirmed that the Police visited the scene and documented the incident.
The body was found in a trench near Nfansha river at Nfansha trading centre, exhibiting multiple deep cuts on the head and neck.
Maate added that the body has been transferred to Muko Health Centre Three for postmortem examination.
Maate urges anyone with crucial information that could lead to the apprehension of the perpetrators responsible for this tragic murder to come forward and assist the Police in their investigation.
