RUBANDA – Leaders and road users in Rubanda District have revealed with concern that the poor road network in the area has greatly affected local trade.

Figures such as the District LC5 Chairman, Steven Ampeire Kasyaba, Alex Turyatunga, and Edward Nkwastibwe emphasized that the inadequate road infrastructure poses significant challenges to the transportation of goods to markets. They reveal that, due to the poor roads, the cost of accessing markets has surged from the initially charged Ugx 100,000 to a staggering Ugx 180,000.

This concern was raised yesterday during the inauguration of a vital development project, the construction of a 12.9 km road linking Rubanda to Rukiga and Kabale districts. The project, valued at 1.9 billion, was commissioned by the State Minister of Works, Hon. Musa Ecweru, in Nyamweru Sub County of Rubanda East.

They underlined the significance of being able to engage in trade with others and expressed optimism that the newly commissioned road will enhance connectivity between Rubanda and Rukiga districts.
