KABALE – Farmers across Africa have been urged to safeguard their land, recognized as their paramount resource.
In a five-day training program spanning participants from Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Rwanda, that commenced yesterday at Kabale National Teachers College (NTC-Kabale), organized by African Masters Tree Growers to commemorate a decade of presence in Uganda, farmers are being educated about the crucial role of land conservation.
Jimmy Musiime, coordinator of Kabale Agroforestry Network and the training initiative by African Masters Tree Growers, emphasized the use of trees to shield land from threats like floods and landslides.
He advocated for responsible farming practices, asserting that well-managed land not only prevents degradation but also enhances productivity, fostering overall development.
Musiime, in his capacity as coordinator, highlighted the significance of this training, conducted in collaboration with Uganda Land Care Network, an association dedicated to the principles and practices of land care in Uganda. The program is set to conclude next Tuesday.
