NEWS – Opposition leaders have slammed the ruling government for lavishly spending billions on luxury cars for former Speakers of Parliament.
Robert Sentamu Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, leader of the National Unity Platform party, questioned the government’s common sense, pointing out that some ex-Speakers already have government vehicles while citizens suffer.
He emphasized the regime’s claim of being cash-strapped amidst citizens facing hunger.
Kyagulanyi highlighted the recurring scandals and heists, urging citizens to rise against the ongoing madness.
MP Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda declared the demise of the 11th Parliament with the passing of Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanyah, noting Oulanyah’s preference for supporting hospitals over extravagant expenses.

Speaker Anita Among presented cars as tokens of appreciation to former Speakers, including Moses Kigongo, Edward Ssekandi, Rebecca Kadaga, and Professor Edward Rugumayo.

Among announced a plan to provide new cars every five years, with taxpayer money covering fuel, maintenance, and driver salaries, citing the Parliamentary Pensions Act’s recent expansion of beneficiaries.
